Zilli Rug

Zilli

Zilli is a blend of traditional weaving with postmodern lines. The rug is hand-woven using Turkey's geographical indication weaving technique. The motifs were embroidered during weaving with the Cicim technique. It is not post processing. This is the most special detail that distinguishes weaving from others. The motifs also have geographical indications. We used five of these motifs in producing the Zilli rug. The names and journeys of these motifs are; horseshoe (union of lovers), dog paw (happiness, abundance), scorpion (protection from evil), clover (luck), cocklebur (abundance).

Pixel Weave Monalisa Rug

Pixel Weave Monalisa

Hana Mitsui reinterprets traditional Japanese tatami weaving through a pixelated Mona Lisa made with Igusa grass. Working with tatami craftspeople, she explores how this time-honored material can engage with present-day visual language. The result highlights a quiet dialogue between tradition and modern perspective. Her practice reflects an ongoing interest in translating cultural heritage into new visual expressions.

Daydreamer Rug

Daydreamer

Daydreamer is a hand-woven floor rug. Four traditional hand weaving techniques are combined in Daydreamer: the Anatolian knot, Cicim weaving, twill weaving and shuttle traditional towel weaving. The Cicim and twill combination forms the Karacakilavuz weaving technique, which carries a geographical indication. Sun, moon and star motifs float within geometric shapes. Three woven pieces are made on traditional oak looms and joined asymmetrically with a knitted wool chain. A cotton lining covers the back, and the fringes are attached by hand. Production takes about two months.

Hair of Umay Rug

Hair of Umay

Made in ancient nomadic technique, protected by UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safekeeping, this rug is bringing the best out of wool due to gradient wool shades and fine hand stitching that creates volumetric texture. 100 percent hand made, this rug is made using natural shades of wool plus yellowish tone dyed with onion shell. A golden thread that goes through the rug makes a statement and reminds of the hair freely flowing in the wind - hair of nomadic goddess Umay - protector of women and children.
