Soul Teapot

Soul

Soul is a cast iron tea kettle made for boiling water and brewing tea on several types of heat source. The form is inspired by the relaxed posture of an Eastern Han dynasty drumming storyteller figurine, reconstructed through contemporary art. Soul is hand cast by the traditional Chinese lost wax method and joins trapezoidal and circular shapes. The surface carries milk spot patterns, and gold plating inside and outside improves corrosion resistance. A rosewood side handle reduces heat transfer, and the angled spout gives a clean pour.

Coral Teapot

Coral

Coral is a handmade teapot inspired by the intricate forms and textures of sea corals. The single handle allows the teapot to be held from all directions, overhead, from the left or from the right, reflecting the many ways different cultures handle a teapot. An indent at the back of the body allows the teapot to be pinched and lifted. The design of the lid is integrated into the handle, so the lines flow around the whole form. Coral is made of coil-constructed, altered, carved and textured earthenware, finished with shino glaze and fired in oxidation.

The Dew Teapot

The Dew

The Dew is a teapot made of glass and stainless steel. The brewing method is inspired by the traditional Italian coffee maker. Tea leaves are placed in the upper chamber. When The Dew is turned upside down, air pressure moves the liquid from the upper part to the lower part. The tea leaves stay in the upper part, so the lower part becomes the serving pot. The shape is inspired by the formation of a dewdrop, which grows slowly as moisture gathers, much like the gradual brewing of tea.
